it scares me that i’m twenty years old, in the prime of my youth, and i cannot stand the way i look. what’s going to happen when i’m 40? 50? 60?
PEOPLE CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT TO THEIR BODIES
IF THEY DON’T WANT TO SHAVE
THATS FINE
IF THEY WANT TO BE COVERED IN TATTOOS AND PIERCINGS
THATS FINE
IF THEY WANT TO HAVE UNNATURAL HAIR COLOUR
THATS FINE
IF THEY DON’T WANT TO BE THIN
THATS FINE
IF THEY DON’T WANT TO BE BIG
THAT’S FINE
EVERYONE CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT TO THEIR BODIESS
AND NO ONE, NO ONE HAS A RIGHT TO TELL THEM DIFFERENTLY OR TO TELL THEM TO CHANGE THEMSELVES
GOD

Benedict Cumberbatch deleted shower scene from Star Trek Into Darkness
Oh so it’s okay for us to freak out over Benedict’s shirtless scene and have multiple scenes of Pine being in underwear but the same people who enjoy those scenes are the ones who are up in arms about this:
Double fucking standard.
Mr Lunsford, with all due respect, I don’t think you get it at all.
Benedict Cumberbatch’s overly-sexualized gratuitous shower scene? Deleted, because it added nothing to the story and so was deemed unnecessary.
Her overly-sexualized, gratuitous scene? Left in and admitted to being so because they “needed it” that way for the male fans.
Double standard? You bet your ass it is, and it seems to be okay to do it to women in this industry, but not to men - who are overwhelmingly in power both inside and outside of Hollywood.
If you want to get up in arms about double-standards, there are plenty that are actually harmful to women, people of color, and people in the LGBTQ* community that would welcome you as an ally. Those fedora-wearing misandrist-believing fanboys? They don’t need anymore help than they already have considering the imbalance of power with respect to women in this world.
But Alison, didn’t you know that women and gay men aren’t allowed to have anything that titillates their sexuality? It’s okay to feed men’s libidos but women need to get into the kitchen and eww gay men!
